This study aims to determine a genealogical status of kushumskaya breed mares of Astrakhan population. The research includes an analysis of pedigrees of 79 mares in tribal reproducer “Aksarayskiy” in Astrakhan region in 2013. The relationship between the mares are determined by a presence of the common ancestor of the first pedigree row. The number of identified stallions paternal was 43 individuals, and the number of mares from his mother's side was 79 individuals. Blood kinship was absent at 27 of 79 mares (37.2 % of cases). The relationship was diagnosed in 52 of 79 mares (65.8 % of cases). Some of 16 stallions were repeated in the first row of analyzed pedigrees from 2 to 8 cases (2.53-10.13 % ). Thus, genealogical structure of kushumskaya breed mares from Astrakhan population has a high frequency of individuals that are in kinship relations with each other. The results of this research can be used in breeding horses of kushumskaya breed in Astrakhan population.
