Analysis of the wildfires in the Astrakhan region in the 2011–2013 biennum

Forest cover is about 1.8 % of the Astrakhan region. All forest areas classified as protective forests. The general characteristic of Woodland Astrakhan region. Specificity of vegetation and topography of the region contribute increased wildfires. Fire danger areas is directly related to soil moisture and vegetation cover and depends on the ambient temperature. Fire-dangerous period in the Astrakhan region lasts from March to November. The most common fire-dangerous period of ignition occur in Reed beds and plots of land, covered with dry vegetation. The article gives a detailed description of the forest complex of the Astrakhan. The article describes the methods of monitoring and forecasting wildfires. The analysis of wildfires in the Astrakhan region that occurred in the period from 2011–2013. Most prone to natural fires Volodarsky and Kamyzyaksky district. Most wildfires occur in the territory of the Ahtubinsky and Chernojarsky districts. The largest number of fires observed in April, March and May.
