Experience of joint cultivation of Clariid catfish ( Burchell, 1822) and lettuce ( L.) with aquaponic method

The researches of joint cultivation of clariid catfish ( Clarias gariepinus Burchell, 1822) and lettuce ( Lactuca sativa L.) in recirculation system with aquaponics method were carried out in experimental complex of Coastal research and expeditional base “Kagalnik” of Southern scientific center of RAS (Rostov-on-don). It is established that all growth rates of fishes at join cultivation with lettuce are higher than in tank, which contained only fish. So, after 45 days in the experiment, the absolute increase of weight of clariid catfish fry were more on 9.55 g, average daily gain were more on 0.21 g, survival rate above 5 %. Plants of lettuce showed intensive growth - in 25 days of cultivation the amount of plant biomass has increased to 0.8-1.0 kg/m . The height of the lettuce reached 28-30 cm.
