The article summarized the published data connected with the effect of heavy metals on the plants life processes. The composition of the plant in the natural humidity consists of microelements-biophilic (Zn, Cu), heavy metals (Pb, Cd); content in air-dry substance, mass fraction (%) Ca, P, N, nitrates, fat, fiber, crude ash and other indexes. All data obtained by the methods according to the state standards tests. The objects of the research were two wild species of the genus Tamarix: Tamarix ramosissima Led. and Tamarix gracilis Willd, growing at 3.5 meters from the road, Astrakhan – Krasny Yar. The author supposed that these species of the genus Tamarix could be potential sources of biologically active substances. However, the concentration of some heavy metals in the genus Tamarix exceed permissible range. According of these results, we can conclude that it’s unreasonable to use plants of the genus Tamarix, growing near the road in the Astrakhan region, as a medicinal plant crude.
