The article unveils research on the chemical and pharmaceutical characteristics of the Lycopus Exaltatus L plant in the Astrakhan region, with the study undertaken from the end of July through September (the period of bloom in Ilinka township). The critique notes that hydrolyzable and condensed tannins were found in the water extracts of Lycopus Exaltatus L, which were being observed for characteristic reactions. The document revealed that sedimentation of tannins by zinc sulfate followed complexometric titration, with the percentage of tannin in the water extracts of Lycopus Exaltatus L. (leaves and stalks) being 0.01 % (in terms of dry raw materials). It was determined that different values existed in two cases when using a method based on the ability of flavonoids to form a colored complex with an alcoholic solution of aluminum chloride. According to the paper, the content of the sum of flavonoids (per 100 g of dry material) is 7.2 % (stems) and 11.7 % (leaves) in terms of lyuteonin-7-glucoside in the aqueous alcohol (60 %) extract of Lycopus exaltatus L.; and 6.8 and 12.2 mg, respectively, in terms of rutin.
