Morphometric parameters of the cerebral vascular plexuses of the ventricles of the reptilian brain are described on the example of the steppe turtle (Testudo horsfieldi) and possible mechanisms of their maturation in the process of postnatal ontogenesis are analyzed. The quantitative characteristics of the ratios of the components of vascular plexuses: epithelium, vessels, connective tissue are detailed. The epithelium through the basement membrane is in close contact with the vessels, which contributes to optimal metabolism. Formalized indicators characterizing the functional capabilities of the morphological substrate of the blood-brain barrier are proposed. The features of the microcirculatory bed of ventricular villi are described.
