A method of express rapid determination of iron and manganese in motor fuels where they can fall due to corrosion of parts, as well as in the composition of antiknock additives has been proposed. This method permits to make determinations quickly and outside the laboratory with a small error. The method is based on the visual contrast of a color transition when an indicator interacts with iron and manganese ions contained in automobile gasoline. Chromogenic reactions of iron and manganese with the indicator reagents are based on the foundation of this method. The strength of the indicator on a bearer is increased for this. Express- qualifier is a foam strip which are impregnated with indicator means on a bearer. Silicate glue was used as a carrier. O-phenanthroline is an indicator means for iron and metaperiodate of potassium - for manganese. Preliminary preparation for the analysis consists in a one-off construction of calibration direct dependences of the length of the colored zone of the indicator means on the concentration of iron and on the concentration of manganese. The method is characterized by a combination of analytical characteristics with the expressiveness and selectivity of the determination. The indicator means can be used for the rapid determination of iron and manganese in gasoline both in stationary laboratories and at gas stations.
