The intensity of the spawning migration of the starry sturgeon in the Ural river, as well as age and weight composition of fish, allow to assess the condition of the commercial part of the population. The study was conducted between 2001 and 2013, on the commercial areas of the Ural river with the direct participation of the authors. For convenience of description, the whole study period was divided into three pieces (2001-2003, 2004-2010 and 2011-2013). It was found that the intensity of the motion (migration), as well as the size - weight and age characteristics of migrating starry sturgeon in these years were significantly different. In 2001-2003 years the dynamics of the spring spawning migration of starry sturgeon is well marked and still retains similarities to previous long-term observations. In subsequent years, the spawning migration of the species is almost absent. Comparative analysis of qualitative indicators of the fish during the analyzed period shows a sustained decline of the size and weight and age indicators of the starry sturgeon migrating to spawn in the Ural river, which is particularly marked in the second half of the studied period.
