Effects of lotus extracts () on radical oxidation of the myocardium of female rats

In this study we shown the results of the effect of sacred lotus Nelumbo nucifera extracts on lipid peroxidation in the myocardium of female rats. Extracts from Nelumbo nucifera seeds, leaves, petals and bolles administered to the animals intragastrically in different concentrations of 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg / kg body weight. The extracts were intragastrically administered to animals by gavage for 14 days. Lipid peroxidation was studied by the rate of spontaneous and ascorbate lipid peroxidation and the initial level of MDA in the myocardium of rats. Effect of extracts of sacred lotus on lipid peroxidation in myocardium depended on the type and concentration of the extract. The most effective antioxidant properties of the extract were at sacred lotus petals. For the rest of the antioxidant properties of the extracts were distributed as follows: boll-seeds-leave. Depending on the concentration of the extracts sacred lotus, manifested prooxidant or anti-oxidant properties.
