The article considers the issues of artificial sturgeon fish reproduction and peculiarities of its current state. The scales of factory sturgeon fish reproduction, which played a crucial role in conservation and restoration of natural resources in the 20th century, are being greatly reduced now due to the increasing scarcity of high-quality breeders. In these circumstances, breeding stocks are of a great importance. They are formed in the hatcheries by two ways. The article provides data on the number, species compositions of breeders and their replacements (young sturgeons) involved in fish breeding and contained in the hatcheries. It is shown that in current conditions the factory artificial reproduction of sturgeon fish is impossible without breeding stock.
