The so cald “diseases of civilisation” are one of the main problems of modern medicine. They include also allergic diseases, in the base of which pathologic reactions of immune system underlie. In the developed countries an increase in the incidence of allergic diseases is registered, marked worsening of clinical illness, heavy cases and appearance of new forms are detected. Since one should not expect decreasing of incidence of allergy cases the problem of improvement of methods of therapy and prevention of allergy is actual as never. Mainly for the treatment of allergic diseases are used drugs acting when symptoms manifestate and need to be decreased. To fight the disease with such drugs is impossible. Therefore are searched preparations that can prevent the disease by inhibition of development of pathologic inadequate immune response on allergen, modelling immune system before disease manifestate or on the stage of manifestation. In this article the data of probiotics usage in the treatment of allergic diseases are combined. The authors underlines, that although there is no doubt now about the role of probiotics in immunity modulation and prevention of allergic phenotype the pathways of this mechanism are not fully clear. Almost all authors agree that modern knowledge is not enough to recommend probiotics as a part of standard therapy and prophylaxis regimens in allergic diseases. Therefore the study of known probiotics influence on immunity, screening and research of properties of new perspective probiotics are very necessary now when the allergic diseases distribution in population is growing.
