This paper deals with the studies on the organ level abnormalities of the marsh frog (Rana ridibunda) specimens, represented in three habitats of aforementioned species equidistant from Astrakhan. Rana ridibunda specimens caught in the natural environment of the Volga’s delta (the Ilmametev’s Brook, which flows in the southeastern part of the delta, the neighbourhood of Zverev village situated in the southwestern part of delta and the neighbourhood of Seitovka settlement – the zone of Astrakhan gas condensate complex influence) showed varying degrees of morphological changes in the liver and kidney tno. s associated with unfavorable environmental situation in the delta areas of the Volga River. Test Rana Ridibunda specimens, formerly caught for the experiments on the effects of exo toxicants in the lower parts of the Volga’s delta, also had different and quite significant morphological abnormalities in the structure of these organs and their perfusion, and in the cells condition, associated with unfavorable environmental conditions in the lower reaches of the Volga. Based on above-mentioned studies we have established the optimal amphibians’ habitats, shown the absence of any correlation between pollution and activities of the most influential industrial complex of the region, as well as potential of marsh frogs as bioindicator of the study region water bodies.
