The article deals with the special aspects of the habitat conditions of Clematis orientalis in connection with the geography of its distribution. The author offers detailed analysis of the biological and ecological peculiarities of the species within Volgograd region. The results of comparative statistical analysis of biomorphological characteristics of the fruit of the plants from Volgograd region (Russian Federation) and the plants from South Kazakhstan are introduced. The productiveness of Clematis orientalis seed propagation is analyzed. The results of comparative study of the seeds linear dimensions prove a striking similarity among the populations from different parts of the species’ habitat. The research has identified the characteristic peculiarities of seed production which are considered as one of the reasons for the low seed regeneration of Volgograd population of Clematis orientalis. Statistical analysis of linear parameters of seeds C. orientalis suggests fairly high similarity of size and shape of the seeds, which is evidence of similar conditions of formation and ripening of the fruits studied populations.
