The authors studied the level of the apoptosis in a suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus of young and old mice by water deprivation and introduction of the vitamin E. The water deprivation caused a significant increasing of the apoptosis level in the cells of the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the young animals, and resulted in the tendency to the increasing of the level of apoptotic cells of the old mice. The vitamin E decreased the level of apoptosis of the old mice, that proves the stress-protective effect of ?- tocopherol and its anti-apoptotic effect. Thus, the ontogenetic changes of the apoptosis level and antioxidant effects (?- tocopherol) in the neurons of the suprachiasmatic nucleus of Balb-c mice hypothalamus were disclosed. The authors also proved that the stress response and stress-related variation of the parameter studied depend on the age of an animal.
