We made the research of the structure of the photosynthetic apparatus of two species of the kind Tamaricaceae – Tamarix gracilis Willd. and Tamarix ramosissima Ledeb, growing in the arid and high-temperature conditions of the Krasnoyarsk region of the Astrakhan region. It was reported that the quantitative predominance of the chlorophyll a over chlorophyll b confirms the high light-requiring of Tamarix. There was also noted that the dominance of the carotenoids, the catotenoids can serve as additional absorbers of light energy, maintain a high level of photosynthesis, when the level of the chlorophyll is very low, and save the chlorophyll from the light oxidation.
